Two of my friends have books published!  And not self-published either!

Still Water Saints, by Alex Espinoza, published by Random House

Light Lowering in Deminished Sevenths, by Judy Kronenfeld, published by The Litchfield Review Press

May they one day become movies.

Now that Independence Day is over, we can start focusing on some monsters.  First up is a new species of snake from the movie Copperhead.  They look like copperheads, but don't be fooled.Do the Copperhead Hiss!

Now, let's take a trip back--way, way back--to the year 100 Million BC ... and get ready to run away from a T. Rex known as Big Red.

Finally, when you've got a problem with super-smart ants in the movie The Hive, who you gonna call?

It's Independence Day here in the United States ... the celebration of freedom from the British Empire.

But just remember, we're not playing the blame game. United Statesians are no longer bitter over how the Empire treated us.

In fact, we're rather happy about the whole thing nowadays.  Why else would we dazzle ourselves by blowing up all sorts of cheeful-looking fireworks?

Anyhow, here's a comic to get us all in the mood, whether ye be British or not.  It stars me with glasses, dreaming away in 1928....Dream Parade

This freaky clown came to my studio and wanted me to paint him a portrait.  "Milkshake the Clown," he called himself.  Sheets of white powder drifted off his face as he spoke.  He grinned.  Yet I could see that he'd been places.  Mean places.

I really had no clue until after I completed his portrait ... when he ended up, for the time being, mascotting for HappyHorror: The Positive Place for all things Horror and Tokusatu.

I've been attacked by David Keith!  Or at least by somebody I think is David Keith, star of such films as Firestarter!  He hated my review for the movie Sabretooth!  Personally, I think actors should stay away from the internet.  It's no place for image-oriented people … they might see a funhouse mirror of themselves online, and then get the wrong idea from it.

So be sure to read David Keith's comments (written under the penname 'Dave').  You'll also find my fearfully polite retaliation.

And don't miss my latest insensitive movie review:

Rock Monster

It's in Eastern Europe!

Hey, there, people ... my next movie review stars Sawyer from the TV show Lost.  Two years before crash-landing on the fabled mysterious island inhabited by a smoke monster, Sawyer was squaring off with a genetically engineered sabretooth (in the movie of the same name -- Sabretooth)!

June 1, 2008The Heatstroke Alien

Heatstroke is among the best scifi B-Movies, about a dinosaur invasion from outer space...!  We get battles, gore galore, and even an alien autopsy -- dino-style! The main character, Secret Agent O'Bannon, has been totally haunted by them since he was a kid, as he comes up with haunting lines like:

"Nighmares.  Bad dreams.  Television."

The OctagonNobody says "Memorial Day" like Chuck Norris.  But while Cable TV is playing his military movies, I thought I'd highlight his ninja movie, The Octagon, as an Illustrated Movie Review.  Having nothing to do with the U.S. Military's Pentagon, it has everything to do with an evil ninja training camp. Enjoy!

Sometimes monster movies are so low grade, or hard to find, that nobody ever gets to see them.  So to give you the full experience, I review them for you guys, and illustrate them. Here are the latest:

Aztec Rex ... Conquistadors vs. T. Rex

Warbirds ... WWII pilots vs. Pterodactyls

Never Cry Werewolf ... Kevin Sorbo vs. Werewolf

April 15, 2008Stephen King Jumpering

Did anybody like the movie Jumper, starring Samuel L. Jackson and the guy who played Luke Skywalker's father?  I know Stephen King sure did!  Read my whole review of Stephen King Loves Jumper (accompanied with this snazzy new picture I did).

Who should play Ganon in the upcoming movie The Legend of Zelda (if they were to have an official movie licensed by Nintendo)?  Actor Ben Badra.  He plays the warlord in 10,000 B.C.  To find out more (and to see more Zelda-relate pictures) read my movie article.

My birthday!  And that's no joke! (Yes, I have to say that every year.)  But this surely is a joke...the new Zelda Movie trailer!  Chris Kattan will make a great Link...nobody can play a pizza delivery boy wearing a green pointy hat better than Chris Kattan.

Also, check out my review for "The Mist."  I compare it with "Night of the Living Dead" and Michael Jackson's "Thriller"...!

March 28, 2008

Just wanted to give the latest in my illustrated movie reviews:

The Legend of Zelda ... the video game ... and now a movie?

10,000 B.C. ... find out how this movie has the cleverest hero in film history.

No Country for Old Men ... the most accurate title in film history.

Hey, this is Rey...be sure to check out my latest painting in the New Myths magazine.  It's a silly fantasy piece called Breakfast.  Also for the magazine, I did a questionnaire in which I reveal my birthday and my mysterious origins.  Find out what I have in common with the legendary actor Toshiro Mifune!  Just click the name Rey Marz when you get there.
